What's in this update

Firmware Version 1.4.0 incorporates the following enhancements: 1. This firmware update ensures compliance with the EU RED EN18031 standard by removing certain network functions. Affected Features: Image Upload: Sending images to image.canon will be disabled. FTP Transfer & Live Streaming: These functions will no longer be available after the update. Important: Please review the following information before proceeding with the update. ・Once installed, this update cannot be reversed. If you use these features, do not update the firmware. ・This change only affects cameras purchased in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, and Africa). ・Cameras purchased in other regions will retain these functions after updating; only the firmware version will change. 2. Adds support for Battery Pack NB-15L. If the camera's firmware is already Version 1.4.0, it is not necessary to update the firmware. Notes: Users manual in the WEB is updated accordingly. Please download the manual as well as the latest firmware. You can download it from the official WEB site. Preparations for a firmware update: After the downloaded compressed file (.dmg file) is extracted, a firmware folder is created. *Extracting the downloaded file: The downloaded folder is automatically extracted, and a firmware folder is created. If the download folder cannot be automatically extracted, double-click the folder. In the folder you downloaded are the firmware (PSG73140.FIR / file size: 29,764,304 bytes) and instructions on the firmware update procedures (a PDF file in five languages: Japanese, English, French, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese). Before starting the firmware update operations, please be sure to carefully review the instructions to confirm your understanding of the firmware update procedures. (The following is the history of past firmware updates.) Changes in version 1.3.2: 1. Fixes issue, which displays Error Code 126 on the camera and does not allow a connection to be established when starting to livestream on YouTube. Changes in version 1.3.0: 1. Adds support for [Video Blog Recording Mode] setting to the [Movie Mode] function. 2. Adds support for [Zebra Settings] to the [Movie Mode] function. 3. Adds support for [Aspect marker] to the [Shooting information display setting] in [Movie Mode]. 4. Adds support for [Recording emphasis] to the [Shooting information display setting]. 5. Adds supports level display when AF mode is set to [Face + Tracking priority AF]. Changes in version 1.2.0: 1. The option to capture movies in the frame rate of 23.98p has been added. 2. The BLE remote (BR-E1, HG100-TBR)is supported when using Wi-Fi when live-streaming*. *This function is only for the area in which live-streaming service is available. 3. In the autofocus characteristics for Movie Servo AF, "Responsive" is available below [Mode 1] in the menu and "Smooth" is available below [Mode 2]. Changes in version 1.1.0: A new mode for Movie Servo AF has been added. Autofocus characteristics for Movie Servo AF can be set to [Mode 1], [Mode 2] or [Disable]. ・Mode 1 (newly added, with firmware version 1.1.0): This mode supports quick and responsive autofocus. Use this autofocus mode when you want the camera to be sensitive to tracking the subject, and for situations when the photographer is moving (such as shooting while walking). ・Mode 2 (current, with firmware version 1.0.1): This mode supports smooth and natural autofocus when shooting movies. Use this mode when shooting landscapes or subjects with little or no movement. "If you prefer the previous AF characteristics, please select Mode 2 after the firmware update."
